It is Cruxlux's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website or embeddable widgets.

Like most websites, Cruxlux collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Cruxlux’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Cruxlux’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Cruxlux may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

Cruxlux also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Cruxlux does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.

Certain visitors to cruxlux.com and certain users of Cruxlux widgets on other sites choose to interact with Cruxlux in ways that require Cruxlux to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Cruxlux gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we require visitors who register to provide a username and email address, and request that they offer other information about themselves such as (but not only) web sites that they enjoy visiting. Cruxlux considers email address, OpenID, and password to be private information and will not intentionally disclose them. Other information collected, such as web sites frequented and affiliations, may be made visible on the site on the user's profile page and next to the user's posts, among other places. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain activities.

Cruxlux may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its website. For instance, Cruxlux may monitor the most popular debates on the web site. Cruxlux may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Cruxlux does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Other than the user information displayed publically on the site (such as affiliations, etc.), Cruxlux discloses personal information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Cruxlux's behalf or to provide services available at cruxlux.com, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Cruxlux, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Cruxlux will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Cruxlux discloses private personal information only when required to do so by law, or when Cruxlux believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Cruxlux, third parties or the public at large.

If you are a registered user of cruxlux.com and have supplied your email address, Cruxlux may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with whats going on with Cruxlux and our products. We primarily use our site to communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. You may receive email notification if someone challenges you to a debate and/or invites you to participate in a debate or question. If someone knows your email address, it will be possible for them to find out if you are registered with the site. If you send us a request (via email or another contact mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users.

Content submitted for display on the website may be visible indefinitely. You should not post anything unless you agree that it can be visible to the world forever and that the site is under no obligation to honor requests for removal. This requirement is motivated by the interdependent nature of posts on the site and does not limit the right of the site management to remove posts for any reason. cruxlux.com does not currently, but may in the future, display to you targeted advertising based on your history on the site and/or the current page you are viewing.

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitors computer, and that the visitors browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Cruxlux uses cookies to identify and track visitors, their usage of the Cruxlux website and widgets, and their website access preferences. Cruxlux visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using cruxlux.com, with the drawback that many features the website will not function properly without the aid of cookies.
