It is not the place of private enterprises to make political statements. That is the role of government.

It is the role of all participants in a society, including private enterprises, to take a stand for what's right. They can't just defer to government to take the lead.

Companies withdrawing sponsorship of the Olympics would not show that they don't tolerate human rights abuses, just that they respond to pressure. They abet abuse other ways.
