I think this is a silly argument. James Gandolfini certainly didn't die, but Tony Soprano is a character and characters die in stories all the time.

But do fictional characters truly ever die? In Battlestar Galactica it was clear Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace died but now she has reappeared.
