by that logic, anyone in the country who supports the losing candidate is "disenfranchised." Whatever the system, the presidency is ultimately all or nothing as 1 person must win.

The top counterargument is, "False comparison: in Brendan's example, a particular vote doesn't count at all in the national tally. In yours, the vote goes into the national tally, but for the loser."
