The top point in support right now is, "The EC enshrines disproportionate representation because votes cast in less populous states have a relatively greater impact. "

It's "disproportionate" in the opposite direction (unfair to small states) if you consider small states as equally sovereign to big ones. Population isn't all that matters.

This is true, but why assume that proportionate representation is the objective? Note the job title: President of the United States, not President of the American People.

The electoral college is complicated. Without it, you get rid of issues like ties and faithless electors.

The all-or-nothing nature of the EC essentially disenfranchises voters who support the candidate who loses within their state.

The all-or-nothing nature is not required by the constitution, and two states do not use it.

by that logic, anyone in the country who supports the losing candidate is "disenfranchised." Whatever the system, the presidency is ultimately all or nothing as 1 person must win.
